Hi,
I don't know if the developers list is right for this but I didn't see a
users mailing list and I don't know if this is a feature request or
something already possibly in OCS Inventory (or something a developer
could help me to start creating).
We have a large number of Dell machines serving as storage nodes in our
cluster. These machines have 4 or more storage shelves (Dell md1000)
attached to them. Currently OCS Inventory pulls in all/most of the
information about the host system but it does not have the capability to
query information about the atttached storage (except for existence and
size).
What we would like is to also inventory information from the attached
storage such as Dell service tag and other information not normally
included in system inventory (because systems have no generic way to
find it in the OS). As far as I know the only way to retrieve that
information is with Dell's "omreport" program which gives you pretty
much all possible information about attached storage.
Is there an existing way to run this external program and include the
information in OCS Inventory as well as include this information into
the GLPI management program? All we really need is to parse some text
output and somehow put into fields in OCS Inventory. Perhaps the GLPI
part is beyond the scope of this list but I believe the first step is to
get the information into OCS since that is where GLPI pulls from.
thanks,
Ben
